Astrid plugin for SlideScreen

It’s unfortunate SlideScreen has been declared death. It’s really sad to see this great home screen vanish. It’s great because it’s so different from all the other android homescreens.

After acquiring the K9mail plugin for SlideScreen I felt it still missed one feature: show me my todo items. I Like Astrid because it can create corresponding calendar events for a task. However most tasks are kept away from my calendar so I still want quick access to them. So this resulted in a plugin. It’s based on the SlideScreenK9Plugin.

You can download it here: SlideScreenAstridPlugin.apk. The source will be released after I do some clean ups. This is a quick hack due to time constraints.

While we’re at it, I also recompiled SlideScreenK9Plugin.apk to use an e-mail icon instead of K9 mail’s logo. This is purely because I like to keep the interface/icons consistent.

weather: simple command line weather script

In my quest to make my systems more useful I created a command line weather script. There are similar programs made already like weathercli, weather-util. But the first didn’t work at all. The second only supports USA states/cities. Not quite useful in my situation where I want weather conditions of The Hague in The Netherlands.

The result is a simple bash script that fetches xml data from Google Weather API using curl. This data is then parsed using xmlscarlet and awk.
